About Us

Founded in Vienna in 2020, the International Epilepsy Surgery Society (IESS) is the first global organization dedicated exclusively to advancing epilepsy surgery. The society has evolved from the first Epilepsy Surgery Techniques Meeting (ESTM), a highly specialized forum that took place in Gothenburg in 2014.

Recognizing the need for a global initiative focused on the surgical treatment of epilepsy, the ESTM Organizing Committee established the IESS to foster collaboration, education, and innovation across the field. Since then, the society has grown into a global network of experts, hosting its first congress in Dubai in 2024 and its second in Beijing in 2025.

Today, the society works with international partners across neurosurgery and neurology to bridge treatment gaps, strengthen expertise in the field through scientific exchange, and improve access to high-quality care for epilepsy patients worldwide.

Congress Organizing Committee

Representing institutions from coast to coast, the Congress Organizing Committee reflects the breadth and strength of epilepsy surgery in Canada. Their collective expertise and commitment to collaboration help shape a dynamic program that advances scientific exchange and addresses the evolving needs of the global epilepsy surgery community.
